My Work as Legal Editor
Before I earned my PhD, I was a legal editor for 10 years. During this time, I worked on several products including: Human Resources Advisor (HRA); HRInfodesk (HRID); Ontario Human Resources Policy Pro (HRPP); and FR Talks (FR’s blog). In fact, during and since my PhD, I kept writing online articles for FR Talks, where most of my articles now focus on my PhD topic, Privacy Law.
I gained several skills during my time at First Reference, including: research and writing; publishing; and using technology in publishing. My experience motivated me to earn a Masters in Law from Osgoode Hall Law School (York University) while I was working as Editor so that I could more fully understand and appreciate the inner workings of Employment Law. It also connected me with a wonderful bunch of people, some of whom I still see at the annual First Reference conference, and talk to when posting online articles on First Reference Talks.
I love to write and continue to write on several online publications involving technology like artificial intelligence and legal, policy, and ethical issues dealing with privacy/cybersecurity.
I hope that the next phase of my career will continue to focus on these topics so that I can keep using my skills to create publishable pieces that get people to think about the implications of technology.
